Thanksgiving Table Decor

This year is the first year I really feel like we are “hosting”. I have had a lot of practice over the past ten years cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for just my husband and I, and also my sister and/or my in-laws some years. But this year we will have my mom, all of my sisters and their families/significants others. It will be 8 or 9 adults, and 4 kiddos. We recently finished our home addition which included a reno of the back deck. For us – in our small, southern California home, with no dining room- we eat our meals on our back patio.

I love this gauze fabric that you can buy through Etsy. They have so many different colors and lengths to choose from. These are from the SnassyCrafter Etsy Shop. I even ordered a smaller one to match for the kids table! I also randomly found these black kids plates at target and realized they would match my black ceramic plates perfectly! I couldn’t resist! The tables are similar to the IKEA kids tables, but these darker wood ones are from Walmart.com.

I knew I wanted to do some sort of floral centerpieces, and was hoping to use a local florist. I ended finding some that I really liked but for $70 a piece, and wanting 2, I knew that was not only way too steep for Thanksgiving Day – but for sure a trial run! Most of the flowers I liked in the arrangement (or something similar) I knew were at Trader Joes. I stopped into Joann Fabrics and found these black matte ceramic vases and also a few styrofoam blocks. Then I bought about $35 worth of flowers from Trader Joe’s and came home and created these beauties, which I am really really proud of! The centerpieces are eucalyptus, peonies, roses, mums and babies breath. Im loving that I found these vases that match the plates, cups and candle holders. So many things I can do with all of this for future holidays and special events.

The plates and glasses are from Bed Bath and Beyond. The candle holders are Hearth and Hand with Magnolia.  The pumpkins I believe are Target or Hobby Lobby and the mini candles are Target dollar section candles! I slowly accumulated all of the details for this setting over the course of a few months and so all of the details came together with some careful planning and some organically.

Stay tuned for my post on planning out Thanksgiving Dinner. My mom and I are in the process of planning out our menu, our shopping lists – planning out what we will cook ahead of time and cooking and warming times for everything to ensure the closest thing to a seamless Thanksgiving Dinner you can ask for!
